Muddled Strawberry + Rose Sparkling Gin Cocktail
I am currently really into rose. Which you will see in my up coming blogs. I am just loving the floral these days, when I used to despise it. I love a good change of palate. This cocktail was inspired by my 30th birthday, coming up, on the 13th of February. Yes, I am a valentines baby and yes, rose is kinda the popular flower of this day, but that is not the sole reason why it is the star of this drink. You see when I was a little lady roses were my absolute favorite thing. I had a rose painted bed spread, I kept every rose to tie up and dry in my bedroom for safe keeping, my mom even planted a rose garden outside of my window, which she told me was filled with flower faeries. The rose flower faerie was my favorite, ofcourse.
So it only seemed right when planning out my 30th birthday dinner to have this strawberry + rose cocktail be the main cocktail to bring in the new. It just may be one of my absolute favorite cocktails I have created to date. The sweet strawberry pieces mixed in with the light floral is just simply perfect and of course it is paired with my two favorite drinks, Hendricks gin + Prosecco.
RECIPE
Muddle 1-2 Chopped Strawberries with 1 Tablespoon of Vanilla Rose Syrup
1 Part Hendricks Gin
2 Parts Prosecco
Dash of Seltzer
Garnish w/ Fresh Tarragon Leaves + Dried Edible Rose Petals
Begin by muddling strawberries with rose syrup in cocktail mixer. Make sure to muddle down strawberries to a liquid consistency and add as much rose syrup to your liking. Add one part gin and stir. Pour consistency into glass and top with prosecco or champagne. Make sure not to pour too fast so not to fizz up and over flow. Top if off with a dash of seltzer and garnish.
VANILLA ROSE SYRUP
2 cups water
1- 2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon Rose water ( add more to your liking )
1/4 Teaspoon vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean
Simple Syrup is usually equal parts water to sugar, but I always prefer to use less sugar and let it boil down to a thin syrup. Place all ingredients in a medium sauce pan and bring to a boil stirring occasionally. Lower heat and let simmer down to a thin syrupy consistency. Make sure to stir occasionally so not to burn.
Peace + Love + Rose Petals!
Drink w/ love.
