GINGER - BOURBON SPICED SANGRIA W/ APPLE + THYME
No, this is not your momma's sangria. This is much more than that. Sangria has always been a favorite of mine. Mainly because I love fresh juice, sparkly drinks and a lot of fruit. I basically turn most cocktails into a version of sangria. What can I say, I love to be sipping on a pretty drink, but I tend to be a little bit of a light weight. So I need something that will last me, especially durning long day gatherings like thanksgiving.
This cool beverage however, does have a little bit of a kick. With the spicy sparkle of the triple ginger brew and the chest warming burn of the bourbon, you will be quenched and satisfied on a cold November day. I love to top mine off with a sprig of thyme to bring a little bit of savory into the mix.
A lot of times at gatherings you want to have a beautiful cocktail to add to the menu, but as the host you really don't have time to maintain everyones empty cup. So a simple way to solve this problem, is to make an interactive cocktail station. Then it can be part of the decor. Nothing looks better than a spread like this on a side table or perched in the center of a large wooden space. I believe every surface is another opportunity to create wonder and beauty.
I recommend chopping or slicing the Apple before hand and covering it with cinnamon and lemon ( to keep from turning).
You can also top the drink off with a splash of sparking water.
