SPAIN PART II // THE GOTHIC QUARTER
Walking up to the battered walls of the Placa de San Felipe Neri can be haunting. At first sight, it could be considered quite peaceful, but once you look deeper into the history that lay within those stones, you can become overwhelmed. You see, many women and children took cover here during the Spanish Civil War. It just so happens that seventy-six years ago today a bomb was dropped in that square, causing forty-two deaths, most of which were children. It's interesting how on the day I choose to post this bares the same exact date as the past events - January 30th 1938. I don't believe there are just coincidence's like that.
We next found our way to the Barcelona Cathedral where we light a candle, made a wish in the fountain and spent the next hour in silence feeling grateful.
