Desert Abstract Holiday Wrapping with Free Gift Tag Downloads
Every Holiday season I take from the year and conceptualize a new creative wrapping style. This has been going on now for over 10 years and it has become one of my favorite parts of the holidays. I have always believed that the wrapping of a gift is half the present - half the fun. It’s the very first thing the recipent experiences, and so it should begin to stimulate the mind the heart.
This year I took from the desert - the landscape I have spent the most time in these past 12 months and one that is very near and dear to my heart. I took the colors the desert has to offer — the tans, pale pinks, sage green and pops of muted coral. I wanted it to feel raw and abstract - as the desert has always inspired this mind set to me. I also wanted each gift to be one of a kind and so I decided that with some white tissue paper and acrylic paint, I could easily create this feeling.
I always believe in bringing in natural elements to gifts - in the past I have topped them with sprigs of fir and cedar, tied together branches and florals. With the desert on my mind I knew it was essential to incorporate dried bits, and with my forever obsession with circles, I decided to make mini gold ring wreaths as gift toppers. Which then become an extra part of the gift.
Now this technique is easy enough, but not for the gift giver with a long shopping list and 50+ gifts to wrap. It is however pretty straight forward and I have provided you with a shopping list of what to get.
All You need:
White tissue Paper - I always wrap with crinkled paper - I love the texture. Always take 2 pieces at a time and crinkle them into a ball, then flatten before using.
Acrylic Paint - Quick drying and cheap is the ticket, try your local craft store
Colors: Sand or Cream, Pale Pink, Muted Coral or Raw Sienna, Gold
Paint Brushes - I always use a wide and small Fan Brush, along with flat and angle shader’s. Any types will work.

Hot Glue, or floral glue
